The Ball Brothers Are Set To Sign With Jay-Z's Roc Nation Sports
According to Jonathan Givony from ESPN, the Ball brothers (Lonzo, LiAngelo, LaMelo) will sign a deal with Jay-Z’s Sports Management Company, Roc Nation Sports. The basketball trio have been looking for representation since leaving Creative Artist Agency back in March. Some believe that the move was due to the recent departure of one of CAA’s top employees, Leon Rose. He left to take a front office position with the New York Knicks.
"We talked to several agents, but the family had good vibes with Roc Nation," said Jermaine Jackson who represents Lonzo and LaMelo Ball via ESPN. "I've known Jay-Z since I played for the Knicks, but this is what the kids wanted to do. Jay-Z is a master at what he does. He's global. It's power beyond power.
Founded by Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter in 2013, Roc Nation Sports has earned a reputation by representing some of the biggest names in sports including, Saquan Barkley (NY Giants), Todd Gurley (Atlanta Falcons), Kyrie Irving (Brooklyn Nets), Skylar Diggins-Smith (Dallas Wings), etc.

New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2017 NBA Draft after spending one year at UCLA. He was a unanimous high school and college All-American known for his great ball-handling skills and tenacious defense. The soft-spoken oldest of the three brothers was usually being touted as “Better than Steph Curry” by his father Lavar during a media tour before Lonzo played one minute in the NBA.
All three brother’s talents have been over looked in the past due to some of the outrageous comments their father has been known to make. In an interview in March 2017 with USA Today, Lavar claimed that, "Back in my heyday, I would kill Michael Jordan one-on-one.” Of course this was very unbelievable since Ball averaged 2.2 points per game at Washington State.
LaMelo Ball, who is the youngest of the three is believed to be a top-five pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. The former point guard for the Australian team, Illawarra Hawks, LaMelo has been preparing for the upcoming draft with his father adding some much-needed muscle to his athletic frame.
Jackson told ESPN that the decision to join Roc Nation Sports was a collaborative effort by the entire Ball family.
"This was a family decision," Jackson said. "This is now an extended family. They put together a beautiful game plan with Jay-Z. The basketball game is about to change. They are going to create something totally new."
