Texans Defensive Unit Makes Their Presence Known On Day 3 Of Training Camp

The defensive unit set the tone on early on yesterday, and that was a very welcomed site for new defensive coordinator, Lovie Smith. On the first snap in 11-on-11 drills, running back David Johnson was stripped and safety Justin Reid recovered it and headed up field as the rest of his teammates celebrated.

That was not the last time the defensive would display their jubilance as they continued to get louder and louder every time they made a play on the ball especially when linebacker Christian Kirksey intercepted a Tyrod Taylor pass attempt.

Of course, all this has been done while the team has been in shorts and helmets, but on Tuesday they will be in pads for the first time according to head coach David Culley and he too is eager to see what the defense will look like.

“I can't wait to see them get in pads,” said coach Culley “Here's the thing. You don't find out if someone can play or not until you see them in pads. Training camp, we're still in that ramp-up period. We've got another couple of days. Tuesday we'll get into pads. When we get in pads on Tuesday, then we start to really be able to evaluate.
