Roughnecks Offensive Lineman Signs With The Titans
The good news just keeps rolling in for former XFL Houston Roughnecks players. Offensive lineman Avery Gennesy signed with the Tennessee Titans on Friday. That gives the Roughnecks the most players from the XFL to sign with NFL franchises with five.
Gennesy was a NJCAA All-American at East Mississippi Community College before enrolling at Texas A&M University. He started every game for the Aggies at left tackle before declaring for the NFL Draft. Although he went undrafted in 2017, Gennesy was signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad. The next year he was claimed off of waivers by the Cleveland Browns and even had a brief stint with the Denver Broncos.
Before joining the Roughnecks this past season, Gennesy was part of the former Alliance of American Football league (Atlanta Legends) who had its season cut short due to lack of funding.
Former Roughnecks Quarterback P.J. Walker (Carolina), Linebacker Edmond Robinson (Atlanta), Defensive Back Deatrick Nichols (New Orleans), and Linebacker DeMarquis Gates (Minnesota) were all signed last month to NFL teams.
