Rockets Head Coach Stephen Silas Preaches Game Day Preparation To Rookies
As the Houston Rockets prepare for their first preseason game against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, one thing that head coach Stephen Silas wants to emphasize to his new rookies is the importance of NBA game-day preparation.
Although three out of the four rookies (Jalen Green G-League Ignite, Alperen Sengun Besiktas/Turkey, Usman Garuba Real Madrid/Spain) the Rockets drafted have a sample size on what it is like to prepare for a professional game, prepping for an NBA game is a tedious and timely process.
“I talked a lot about routine with the guys today,” coach Silas told the media after the Rockets finished practice on Monday. “For the younger guys, it is harder to get a routine. ‘When are you going to eat? What time are you getting to the arena? When are you going on the court before the game?’ All those things are new for those guys. Setting a routine takes a little while and tomorrow will be the first day.”
