Raiders Could Be In The Market To Acquire DE Via Draft Day Trade

The National Football League will dominate television and social media viewership of quarantined individuals for the next three days. Round 1 of the 2020 NFL Draft starts tonight and the trade talks have intensified leading up to the first pick to be announced.

There were rumors that the Miami Dolphins were willing to send all their first-round picks (3) to Cincinnati for the rights to quarterback Joe Burrow. The Bengals respectively declined.

Atlanta is aggressively pursuing a trade with the Washington Redskins to switch draft positions in the first-round to draft defensive end Chase Young. Washington stopped answering the phone to let the Falcons know what they thought about that.

Now comes word that the Jacksonville Jaguars and Las Vegas Raiders have entered into trade talks heading into tonight’s draft. According to Charlie Campbell of walterfootball.com , Las Vegas is offering its 19th pick in the first round for defensive end Yannick Ngakoue. Jacksonville has countered by asking for the Raiders 12th pick.

Ngakoue was drafted in the third-round by Jacksonville in the 2016 NFL Draft. He has totaled 37.5 sacks in four season and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2017. His 14 career forced fumbles is fourth in league since the 2016 season.

The disgruntled DE took to social media to express his disdain for the Jacksonville organization going so far as exchanging tweets with senior vice president of football administration and technology, Tony Khan, who is also the son of owner Shad Khan.

Animosity between Ngakoue and the team goes back as far as July 2019 when he wanted a new contract that would pay him in the range of $20 million per year, but the team were not willing to pay him that much. After playing out the year for $2.025 million, the Jags placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on him for 2020. That would have netted him a $15 million raise, but Ngakoue wants a long-term deal and Jacksonville is not willing to meet his demands.

It has also been reported that Las Vegas is not the only team in the running for Ngakoue’s services. This day should be very interesting with the amount of trade rumors that will be swirling around social media.
