PICK SIX: Vegas predicts six college football teams that will have double-digit wins in 2020.
Las Vegas has found a way to bring some normalcy back into the sports world during this drought. ESPN reported on Monday that Caesars Sportsbook have released six college football teams they believe will have double digit wins in 2020.
Those teams are:
Clemson – 11.5 wins
Ohio State – 11 wins
Alabama – 10.5 wins
Florida – 10 wins
Georgia – 10 wins
Oklahoma – 10 wins
It is no surprise that Clemson is back on top. Dabo Sweeny is bringing back a plethora of upperclassmen to help lead the Tigers to another successful season including preseason Heisman favorites QB-Trevor Lawrence and RB-Travis Etienne. Both players will be looking to help Clemson reach the College Football Playoff for a sixth consecutive season.
Ohio State, who lost to Clemson 29-23 in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff last season is the only other team Vegas predicts to win 11 games in 2020. Projected Heisman Trophy winner QB-Justin Fields will look to improve on an outstanding 2019 college season (3,273 passing yards, 41 touchdowns, three interceptions) and hopefully lead the Buckeyes to the National Championship game they feel they were robbed of last season.
While many sports pundits around the nation believes that Clemson and Ohio State are on a collision course to meet each other in the National Championship Game, there are some experts who believe that Clemson would lose in that game. Jeff Davis, director of trading for Caesars Sportsbooks is one of those non-believers.
"We would make both Ohio State and Alabama small favorites over Clemson if they were to play today," Davis said. "Clemson has the shortest odds strictly because of their schedule."
Oregon (9.5), 2019 National Champions LSU (9.0), Michigan (9.0), and Notre Dame (9.0) lead the next tier of teams that are right outside of the double-digit win category according to Caesars Sportsbook.
